Aerial Chaplaincy

The withdrawal of churches and general services from the bush has left a void of pastoral care and connectedness in the outback. “Approximately one male farmer dies from suicide every four days” A lack of Christian presence “on the ground” in outback communities has contributed to the isolation that many feel already. Services we take for granted go unmet: Christian weddings and funerals, marriage counselling, practical teaching, prayer ministry and Christian discipleship.

Peace Australia is working to help Christian ministers of various denominations extend their area of pastoral care through a charitable aviation service. An aviation service has been established enabling a quick response to meeting need - crisis counselling, pastoral care and other support services for need in outback communities. Christian work amongst aboriginal communities could be assisted.
